EL MIRAGE

El Mirage is a residential community located 16 miles northwest of Phoenix. The economic profile of El Mirage has changed considerably over the last ten years. Although traditionally a farm community, jobs in the construction, service, and surrounding retirement communities now provide jobs for the more than 5,000 residents.

Community identity is strong in El Mirage. Families come and remain for generations. The city of El Mirage offers such community facilities as a community center, park, swimming pool and 1,200-square-foot library. El Mirage leaders also have a positive attitude toward planned growth and economic development.

Lake Pleasant Regional Park is north of El Mirage and offers boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, camping and picnicing. The lake was recently expanded to about 10,000 acres, making it one of the largest in the Southwest. White Tanks Mountain Regional Park is west of El Mirage and features Indian petroglyphs of rock carvings in its 26,000 acre park.

El Mirage has adopted an aggressive policy to attract new commercial and industrial businesses to the city. El Mirage has no city property tax. The community offers a solid, hardworking labor force. The city is served by the Santa Fe Railway main and spur lines and U.S. 60. El Mirage is also four miles from Loop 101.
